Orange Dreamsicle Smoothie
This easy and refreshing orange creamsicle smoothie will delight your taste buds and is a guilt-free way to cool down on a hot, summer day. This recipe can also be frozen to create delicious popsicles too!
I absolutely LOVE smoothies, ice cream, popsicles, and milkshakes anytime of the year. When I was pregnant with my oldest child I craved popsicles and it wasn’t unusual to see me walking around my workplace eating popsicles, anytime of the day, all winter long!
It has been unseasonably warm here at 5,800ft, leaving me searching for different ways to keep cool. It’s only the start of June and already the daily temperatures are reaching the 90*F mark. The Dog Days of Summer have arrived early this year. Because I have a toddler who shares my love for smoothies, I’ve come to put more thought into what I’m sipping on and sharing with him. This Orange Dreamsicle Smoothie is one that is totally guilt-free when serving it as a breakfast smoothie and is sweet enough for a cool treat. If I have oranges on hand, and the time, I like to use freshly squeezed orange juice. That’s not always how it goes down in my daily life though, so using bottled orange juice is usually what I use. I also use the Simple Truth organic, blended Greek vanilla yogurt. Since Greek yogurt is thicker, it may be interesting to try using regular vanilla yogurt if you want a thinner consistency… that may be something I’ll have to try out sometime! I was able to get about 3-8oz glass servings from this recipe. I poured two glasses to drink immediately with our breakfast, and poured the remaining smoothie into two popsicle molds. I love having healthy popsicles on hand AND being able to use up frozen concoctions entirely. My toddler happily approved of this recipe and so it joins our ‘make again’ collection. How are you staying cool this summer?
